Cows calved

The number of cows calved within this month.

Heifers Calved

The number of heifers calved in month.

Do not include heifers that have been sold freshly calved.

Cows Purchased

Cows that have been purchased or transferred from another herd.

Cows Sold

Cows sold, culled or died during the month.

Cows in herd EOM

Should include both in milk & dry animals.

Calculated from cows in herd at start of month + heifers calved into herd + cows purchased - cows sold / left herd / died.

This figure should always be entered in, even for block calving herds where the cows in milk is zero for the month.

Cows in Milk EOM

Should include all cows and heifers in milk at the end of the month.

Livestock at end of month

Other grazing livestock: include all dairy replacements, beef (not cereal), suckler cows, sheep and horses etc.

This is calculated using Grazing Livestock Units.

For store lambs, GLUs are roughly half of Lowland breeding ewes, so enter half the number of store lambs in the box.

Forage hectares

Check that this figure is correct. It should include all grazing, silage and other forage crop areas on the farm

Any area of rented keep used in the summer should be included throughout the following winter.

Turnout and housing

Please give the dates the milking herd was initially turned out and fully housed (day and night).
